Crondon Park Ladies Section 2023

We are a small and friendly section. Thursday is our main day and we have some tee times on a Saturday for seven-day lady members. Our competitions are often mirrored and run on both days.

As we do not have a Lady Captain for 2023, our competitions and events will be run by the Ladies Committee and lady members of our section.

We have a wide range of playing abilities and our handicaps vary from high to single figures. Beginners, old timers, ladies returning to golf and players of any ability are welcome to join us.

There are weekly competitions, some for fun and others for handicap. We play a mixture of team and individual games. Our “big” days, which run at various times of the year, include a Chicken Run and Turkey Trot in December, Autumn and Spring Meetings and a Ladies Section Day in mid-summer.

The section has always entered County competitions, both team and individual. We have been successful over the years, often reaching the final stages of events, with several wins in recent times. This year, the section is entering teams for the Munro Foursomes, Silver Shield and Harris Bowl County competitions. We have also entered teams for the Annodata and Daily Mail Foursomes, national team events.

The ladies are invited to play in several special trophy days on Saturdays with the men, including the Vice Captain’s Cup and Captain’s Day. There are mixed events running on bank holidays, when all members are invited to play.

Over the winter and off season, ladies can join a weekly coaching session with the assistant Professional at the club’s driving range, so they can work on their short and long games, including driving, pitching, chipping and putting.

We run a bi-annual Ladies holiday open to all members of our section. It is usually a two or three day trip to a course within a reasonable driving distance. In the past, the ladies have travelled to Kent, Suffolk, Norfolk and Dorset. In August 2023, a group are heading off to Old Thorns in Liphook, Hampshire, for a 3 day golfing experience. Much fun will be had by all!

This year, in the absence of a Lady Captain, the section will be raising funds to contribute towards the Club Captain’s chosen Charity.
